Have you ever wondered what your favorite Kansas City Chiefs players
do in the off season? Then you’ve come to the right place! From now
until the team departs for training camp in River Falls, Wisconsin,
kcchiefs.com will highlight what some of your favorite members of the
Red and Gold are up to. Check back often, because you just never know
where the next Chiefs player will turn up!

When
you’ve been to six Pro Bowls, it’s obvious that you know a thing or two
about what skills it takes to be a success. That’s one of the many
reasons that Kansas City Chiefs TE Tony Gonzalez hosted his first camp
earlier this summer. Held at Heritage Park in Olathe, Kansas, the 6-5,
251 pound Gonzalez hosted the campers with the help of some of his NFL
buddies, past and present.
Former teammates such as LB Donnie Edwards and QB Warren Moon spoke to
the campers as did Chiefs Head Coach Dick Vermeil. Gonzalez even had
current teammates like Pro Bowlers FB Tony Richardson and G Will Shields
even dispatched some wisdom upon those present.
The
camp was a dream come true for Gonzalez. “It’s important that these kids
not only learn how to play the game the right way but learn other
aspects that football teaches you,” Gonzalez noted. “I don’t know if
there are any future NFL players out here but I sure hope that every
single one of them are learning about what it takes to be winners in
life.”
As a
result, the on-field demonstrations were not the only method used to
educate the campers. Each day, several respected individuals from
throughout the NFL came to speak to those present about important
life-skills that everyone should have.
